RC-Tron — drive a real RC car over the internet

RC-Tron lets you drive a physical, radio-controlled vehicle from anywhere with a browser. A live camera on the car streams to you and your controls move the actual vehicle, which sits in a staffed venue where people right it when it rolls and swap its battery when it runs flat. It is not a simulator and not a game — crash it and somebody repairs it.

How a session works

Create an account and buy tokens.
Pick a vehicle that is online and free.
Drive it live over the video feed. You are billed per minute.

What is different about it

Real hardware. Every session moves a physical 1/10-scale truck, converted by replacing its receiver with a Raspberry Pi.
Speed is measured, not guessed. Each car carries a wheel sensor, so a speed limit is an actual km/h held by the car — not a throttle percentage that changes with slope and battery charge.
A virtual gearbox. The cars have no gearbox. Gears are response curves with a rev counter, so a car held at a low speed still feels responsive rather than broken.
Spectating. You can watch somebody else's live session without driving.

Current status

Accounts work and the platform is live, but the fleet is still being built and driving is not open to the public yet. If you want to know when it opens, sign up and leave your email.
